Jerine is an active, energetic young boy who loves to sing and play with friends. At home, he helps his mother by sweeping the house, and at school he enjoys expressing his creativity by writing stories. In the future, Jerine hopes to become a doctor and care for the sick people in his village. Jerine is no stranger to poverty. His parents work long hours doing odd jobs in their village for a small income. Though they work hard, their income is often minimal and unreliable. Frequently, they struggle to afford many basic essentials. Through sponsorship, Jerine will receive things like nutritious meals and a continuing education.

About Uganda
Uganda is a landlocked nation in East Africa. Uganda’s landscape includes soaring mountains, dense forests, and the world’s largest tropical lake, Lake Victoria.
Uganda is still recovering from its past of dictatorial rule that claimed the lives of nearly a half million people. Democratic reforms in 1986 renewed hope; however, a new rebel group—the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA)—established a cult-like autocracy, massacring tens of thousands of civilians and displaced more than 1.5 million Ugandans over the next two decades.
Nearly 63 percent of Ugandans live on less than three U.S. dollars per day, and many rural residents face daily struggles with limited access to clean water, proper sanitation, and adequate medical care. In addition, Uganda continues to grapple with the long-term effects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic of the 1990s when nearly 15 percent of the population was infected.

Why sponsor a child?
“Child sponsorship is very rewarding because you know you're making a difference for that child. But the blessing you will receive far surpasses even the difference you make in the children's lives. You will see God at work!”
— Lita, Kentucky
“Sponsoring two little girls from Guatemala has changed the way I see life. As Christ-followers, we are called to love God and love others. I believe that we love God through loving others, and child sponsorship gives us the opportunity to do that.”
— Kayla, Virginia
“I believe child sponsorship is a way to touch the future. It's important to invest in the next generation, both here and around the world.”
— Margaret, California
