Even in the bad, continue to do good

In the book, “The Fellowship of the Ring,” Gandalf describes the evil lurking in the one ring and how it continues to prevail. Afterward, Frodo looks to him and says, “I wish it need not have happened in my time.”

Gandalf replies, “So do I … and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

In these dark days of the coronavirus health crisis, so many things may be out of your control. But you still have the power to do good. You just have to decide how you’re going to help.

You may be wondering who needs your help the most right now — the people now suffering from COVID-19 here in our own nation or those living in tremendous poverty around the world. When you give to the coronavirus emergency fund, you will help both domestically AND abroad. Plus, your gift will double up to $235,000 thanks to a matching gift by generous World Help Board members.

Now is our time to decide how we’re going to live out these dark times. Across our country and overseas, people are using their resources, their talents, and their money to radically improve the lives of others who are suffering during this pandemic.

Children are spending their days at home drawing, coloring, and writing special notes to elderly members of nursing homes who can’t receive visitors.

Hair and nail salons, who have been forced to close, are donating their unused gloves and face masks to hospitals responding to the coronavirus who are running low.

And men and women who have the gift of sewing and crafting are using their talents to make face masks for vulnerable people and for hospitals.

How is God asking you to help in this time of crisis?

Maybe you’re thinking you don’t have the resources to make a significant difference. But the fact is that for less than $10, you can help rescue two people during this pandemic.

That’s because normally every $8 you give would provide aid for one person … and now your donation is doubled.

Your doubled gift will help here in the U.S. to provide emergency food to people who are out of work because of COVID-19 and hygiene kits to some of our most at-risk citizens.

You’ll also make a global impact by helping erase the $2.3 million budget shortfall World Help faces as a result of canceled fundraising events. Your gift will help make sure that our critical programs around the world don’t have to close their doors and that people trapped in poverty can still have access to the food, medical care, clothing, and other essentials they need to survive.

Your gift will do so much. You have tremendous power to help save lives and share the love of Jesus in the process.

And since every dollar you give will be DOUBLED, you will make an even greater impact!

None of us chose this time of global crisis … but you can choose what you will do with it. You can choose to use it for good.
