“COVID-19 is deepening the hunger crisis in the world’s hunger hotspots and creating new epicenters of hunger across the globe. … The pandemic is the final straw for millions of people already struggling …”

This quote from a recent Oxfam study is just a confirmation of what countless families around the world have known for months: For people living in poverty, the virus isn’t the only thing killing them … it’s also starvation.

While you may not be able to stop the global pandemic, you can easily help prevent someone from starving today.

Your gift can help provide emergency food and other aid to men, women, and children struggling to survive. And thanks to a matching gift, every $40 you give DOUBLES to help rescue 10 people. You will help save lives and bring hope during this pandemic.

“The impact of the coronavirus has been disastrous,” our Nepali partner said. “The moment when industry closed down, thousands of families started to starve.”

Hunger caused by the coronavirus is expected to kill 12,000 people per day by the end of the year — potentially more than the death count of the virus itself, as revealed in the same study that called the coronavirus “the final straw.”

It was certainly the final straw for Maryuri.

Maryuri lives in Nicaragua with her husband and daughter, who suffers from cerebral palsy. They used to own a cheese shop in the local market, but after her husband injured himself in a motorcycle accident, Maryuri had to stay at home to take care of both of them.

With no source of income, she struggled to afford the medical help her daughter and husband needed … much less put food on the table.

Then, the pandemic hit.

The coronavirus shut down all the businesses around them, so even when they did have a little money, they had no way of buying any food.

Without help, families like Maryuri’s will starve.

But you can help. You can help provide emergency coronavirus relief like food, clean water, hygiene kits, medical care, and more for 10 people — for only $40! That’s because World Help Board members have pledged to match every dollar you give up to $300,000, so your gift DOUBLES to make twice the impact!

Your gift will also bring incredible hope during this pandemic and help erase a projected budget shortfall caused by fundraising events being canceled due to the coronavirus.

People like Maryuri were already struggling to survive before this crisis. And, with the coronavirus taking away jobs and livelihoods, this is the final blow. It’s the last straw that could end with people starving to death during quarantine.

So please help provide emergency food and spiritual hope during these desperate times.
